Polls reveal who Americans hold responsible for the government shutdown
•1 min read

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has strongly rebuked Democrats, accusing them of using obstructionist tactics during talks over a short-term spending bill to avert a federal government shutdown. In response, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has charged Republicans with excluding Democrats from the negotiation process.
According to a new survey by Data for Progress, nearly six in ten voters say they would hold President Donald Trump or the Republican Party accountable if a shutdown occurs. The House has already passed the temporary funding measure, but its fate in the Senate remains unclear as partisan tensions continue to rise.
