PM Modi Hails First Phase of Trump-Supported West Asia Peace Deal

PM Modi Welcomes First Phase of Trump-Backed West Asia Peace Deal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed the agreement reached on the first phase of the West Asia peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, under which Israel and Hamas have agreed to a temporary halt in hostilities in Gaza.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi described the development as a positive step toward peace and highlighted the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan. This also reflects the strong leadership of PM Netanyahu,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the implementation of the deal, particularly the release of hostages and greater humanitarian access in Gaza, would provide relief to civilians and help pave the way for a longer-lasting resolution to the conflict.
US President Donald Trump had announced on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas had agreed on the first phase of his Gaza peace plan, calling it a “historic and unprecedented” step toward ending the two-year-long war. Under the deal, Hamas will release all hostages, while Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line, following discussions in Egypt on Trump’s 20-point peace proposal.
