Mumbai placed under red alert as heavy rains expected; Thane and Raigad see downgraded alerts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has kept a red alert in place for Mumbai, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rain in the city on Monday. Earlier, the department had issued an orange alert for Mumbai and surrounding districts for the same day.
According to the latest IMD nowcast, Mumbai is expected to witness very intense rainfall, with warnings of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kmph across both the city and its suburbs.
