India: UN peacekeeping missions in Gaza, Ukraine not expected

NEW DELHI (Reuters) – The deployment of United Nations peacekeeping forces to Ukraine or Gaza is highly improbable due to the current makeup of the UN Security Council, a senior Indian defence ministry official said on Wednesday.
Vishwesh Negi, the official, made the remarks during a press conference held alongside the conclave of army chiefs from countries that contribute troops to UN missions in New Delhi. He was responding to queries about whether UN peacekeepers could be sent to the conflict zones of Ukraine and Gaza.
India, one of the largest suppliers of troops and police personnel to UN peacekeeping operations, plays a significant role in the functioning and decision-making of such missions.
