BMW F 450 GS debuts with a starting price of ₹4.70 lakh.

BMW F 450 GS launched in India from ₹4.70 lakh: BMW’s new entry-level adventure bike arrives in three variants
After months of speculation, concept previews, test sightings, and growing excitement among motorcycle enthusiasts, BMW Motorrad has officially launched the BMW F 450 GS in India. Prices begin at ₹4.70 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Base variant and go up to ₹5.30 lakh for the fully equipped GS Trophy trim. Bookings are now open across India, while customer deliveries are scheduled to commence from June 2026.
The launch marks an important milestone for BMW Motorrad in the Indian market because the new F 450 GS replaces the discontinued BMW G 310 GS as the brand’s most affordable adventure motorcycle. It also serves as the new gateway into BMW’s globally respected GS family, a motorcycle line-up known for touring capability, rugged performance, and premium engineering.
Manufactured locally by TVS Motor Company at its Hosur production facility, the new F 450 GS is expected to play a major role in BMW’s mid-capacity strategy in India.
A highly anticipated launch
The journey of the F 450 GS began when BMW showcased the concept version at EICMA 2024. Since then, spy shots and road tests generated considerable attention among riders waiting for a more powerful and feature-rich successor to the G 310 GS.
The production-ready version was finally unveiled at EICMA 2025, confirming BMW’s intention to enter the fast-growing mid-size adventure motorcycle segment. With the official India launch now complete, BMW has taken direct aim at one of the most competitive categories in the country.
Three variants on offer
BMW has introduced the F 450 GS in three trims:
Base Variant – ₹4.70 lakh
Exclusive Variant – ₹4.90 lakh
GS Trophy Variant – ₹5.30 lakh
All prices are ex-showroom, India.
Each version shares the same engine and core chassis setup, but the higher variants receive additional touring, off-road, and premium features.
Engine and performance
At the heart of the F 450 GS lies a new 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. This twin-cylinder motor develops:
48 hp at 8,750 rpm
43 Nm torque at 6,750 rpm
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox. BMW says the twin-cylinder setup delivers smoother highway cruising, stronger mid-range performance, and refined riding characteristics compared with single-cylinder alternatives in the segment.
This gives the F 450 GS a distinct identity in a category where many rivals continue to rely on single-cylinder engines.
The motorcycle also gets BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro from the Exclusive variant onward, allowing clutchless upshifts and downshifts. This feature is especially useful during spirited riding, highway touring, and off-road conditions where quick gear changes can improve control.
Lightweight yet adventure-focused
Despite carrying premium hardware and a twin-cylinder engine, the F 450 GS has a kerb weight of just 178 kg, making it relatively light for an adventure motorcycle in this class.
That lower weight should help improve maneuverability in traffic, confidence on trails, and comfort during long-distance riding.
BMW has equipped the motorcycle with:
KYB upside-down front forks
Rear monoshock with preload and rebound adjustment
Front Brembo braking system
Rear Bybre brake unit
This combination suggests a balance of premium stopping power, suspension control, and touring comfort.
Safety technology included
BMW has packed the F 450 GS with several advanced rider aids usually associated with higher-end motorcycles.
Key safety features include:
ABS Pro – allows safer braking even while cornering
Dynamic Brake Control (DBC)
Dynamic Brake Light
Traction Control
Engine Drag Torque Control
These features improve safety during sudden braking, slippery conditions, and aggressive deceleration.
Such electronics make the F 450 GS one of the most technologically advanced motorcycles in its category.
Modern features and connectivity
BMW has also focused heavily on convenience and rider comfort. The motorcycle receives a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and digital controls.
Other premium touches include:
Heated grips
Adjustable clutch lever
Adjustable brake lever
Height-adjustable rear brake lever
LED lighting system
Easy Ride Clutch (on Trophy trim)
The TFT display is expected to offer navigation support, ride data, media controls, and call functions, giving the bike a premium touring experience.
Variant-wise breakdown
Base Variant
The entry-level Base trim is far from basic. It includes:
6.5-inch TFT screen
Full LED lighting
Heated grips
ABS Pro
Traction control
Adjustable levers
Height-adjustable rear brake lever
Engine drag torque control
This version is available only in Cosmic Black.
Exclusive Variant
The mid-spec Exclusive trim adds several adventure-oriented upgrades:
Off-road foot pegs
Hand guards
Engine guard
Riding Modes Pro
Shift Assistant Pro
Clear windshield
It is also offered in Cosmic Black.
GS Trophy Variant
The top-end GS Trophy variant gets the most premium specification and a rally-inspired design.
Additional highlights include:
White hand guards
Tinted Rallye windshield
Sport suspension
Aluminium engine guard
Shift Assistant Pro
Riding Modes Pro
Easy Ride Clutch
This version is finished in BMW’s iconic tricolour livery, inspired by the brand’s motorsport heritage.
Styling inspired by bigger GS motorcycles
Visually, the F 450 GS clearly draws inspiration from larger motorcycles such as the BMW R 1300 GS.
Design highlights include:
Tall adventure-bike stance
Upright ergonomics
Long-travel suspension look
Muscular fuel tank design
Quad-LED DRL setup
Aggressive front beak styling
These styling cues help the F 450 GS appear like a proper GS rather than a budget entry model.
Accessories for customization
BMW is also offering a wide list of accessories for riders who want to personalize their motorcycle.
Available optional equipment includes:
Cross-spoke wheels
Different windscreens
Luggage systems
Handlebar risers
Touring seats
Alternate seat heights
This means buyers can tailor the motorcycle for city commuting, long-distance touring, or trail-focused riding.
Competition in India
The new F 450 GS enters one of India’s hottest motorcycle segments. Its main competitors include:
Honda NX500
KTM 390 Adventure
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
Among these, the Honda NX500 is perhaps the closest rival because it also uses a twin-cylinder engine and targets premium adventure riders.
However, the KTM 390 Adventure offers strong off-road credibility and sharper performance, while the Himalayan 450 remains a highly practical and value-focused touring machine.
BMW’s advantage lies in brand appeal, premium technology, twin-cylinder refinement, and strong GS lineage.
Why this launch matters
The F 450 GS is more than just another motorcycle launch. It signals BMW’s intent to grow aggressively in India through localized manufacturing and more accessible premium products.
India has become one of the world’s fastest-growing premium two-wheeler markets. Riders increasingly seek motorcycles that can handle commuting, touring, and weekend adventures in one package.
The F 450 GS fits this demand perfectly.
It offers:
Everyday usability
Highway touring comfort
Off-road capability
Premium branding
Modern electronics
Twin-cylinder performance
That combination could make it highly attractive to experienced upgraders as well as first-time premium bike buyers.
Final verdict
With prices starting at ₹4.70 lakh, the BMW F 450 GS brings premium adventure touring within reach of a wider audience. It combines strong performance, modern rider aids, low kerb weight, and unmistakable GS styling in a package designed specifically for emerging markets like India.
For riders who always wanted to own a BMW GS but found larger models too expensive or intimidating, the F 450 GS may prove to be the perfect middle ground.
Bookings are now open, and with deliveries beginning in June 2026, the newest member of BMW’s GS family could quickly become one of the most desirable motorcycles in India’s adventure segment.
