PM Modi breaks silence on Trump’s H-1B fee rise to $1,00,000: ‘The biggest challenge we face is…

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the importance of India becoming self-reliant after US President Donald Trump raised the H-1B visa fee to $100,000 (around ₹88 lakh) a year. The H-1B programme is widely used by skilled technology professionals, particularly from India.
Making his first statement following the visa fee hike, PM Modi remarked that the greatest threat India faces is its reliance on other nations.
He said, “India is moving ahead with the spirit of ‘Vishwabandhu’—a friend of the world. We do not consider any country our major enemy. If there is one true adversary, it is our dependence on others.”
“This dependence is the biggest challenge before us, and together we must overcome it. We must remind ourselves of this constantly,” the Prime Minister added.
