Mahindra Addresses E20 Fuel Impact: Minor Changes in Mileage and Performance for SUVs
Mahindra & Mahindra on Thursday assured customers that it will fully honor all warranty obligations for vehicles running on E20 fuel. The automaker has also circulated an advisory to both customers and dealers to address concerns surrounding the fuel’s impact.

In its statement, the company clarified that all Mahindra engines meet current gasoline standards and are safe for use with E20. Vehicles manufactured after April 1, 2025, will come specifically calibrated for E20, ensuring optimal performance. For earlier models, Mahindra confirmed that they remain “entirely safe to drive,” though some drivers may notice slight variations in acceleration or fuel efficiency depending on driving style.
The update follows a surge of complaints on social media after E20 fuel became the primary option across nearly 90,000 filling stations nationwide.
Acknowledging customer concerns, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s automotive division, noted that while fuel blended with 20% ethanol is safe to use, minor drops in mileage and acceleration could occur. His remarks were reported by Reuters.
