Class 6 Student from Lucknow Takes Own Life After Huge Online Gaming Loss of ₹13 Lakh

A tragic incident unfolded in Lucknow’s Mohanlalganj area where a 12-year-old boy, Yash Kumar, a Class 6 student of BIPS School, died by suicide after allegedly spending his family’s savings on an online game.
The school expressed grief over the loss and announced a holiday on September 16.
According to reports, Yash’s father, Suresh Kumar Yadav, a painter by profession, had deposited about ₹13 lakh in Union Bank’s Bijnor branch two years ago after selling a piece of land. On Monday, when he went to update his passbook, he was shocked to find the account balance wiped out. Further inquiry revealed that the amount had been drained through online gaming transactions.
When questioned, Yash at first denied being responsible but later admitted that he had lost the money while playing the game Free Fire. His father chose not to scold him and instead tried to console and counsel him. His tuition teacher also assured the family that he would help guide Yash.
However, shortly after these conversations, Yash went into his room and was later discovered hanging from a ceiling fan. He was rushed to a nearby community health centre, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police were informed, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
The sudden loss has devastated the family, especially as Yash was their only son. His mother, Vimla, fainted upon receiving the news, while his sister, Gunjan, was left inconsolable.
